Leveling Without a Cause - Can it Be a Thing?

Recently released by our friends at Hero Forge ® is the Elven Guardian Armor. This looks amazing as a new addition to the growing choices for armor for your RPG character.

Item description: Practice makes perfect and, for the elves, their expertise and wisdom are earned through decades or centuries of practice. The Elven Guardians, the greatest of their warriors, have honed their skills in preparation to face any threat while also using the best equipment. Join their forces and don the armor of the Elven Guardian in the Clothing menu.

But what can we do with an item like this and take it beyond the concept to incorporate it into our games. We know that Elves take pride and care in the things that they do. We know that Elves are quite dexterous. Since they live a long time, it would make sense that they do not reproduce frequently, making each life precious. We can also look at what armor is designed to do and build on top of that. So without further ado, let me make Elven Guardian Armor:

Elven Guardian Armor (any Medium Armor, Very Rare, requires attunement by an elf or half-elf)

Guardian Armor is something that is typically worn by those who have given great service to the Elven people or brought out in serious times of war. Those who wear the armor are seen as champions of the people willing to give all for the Elven people. Wearing Elven guardian armor that has not been presented as a gift is seen as an insult and if it is known the wearer is looked on with derision.

This +1 Suit of medium armor is layered with enchantments to allow the user to uphold the elven people. The armor is immune to anything that would mar its appearance and dirt, blood, and sweat fall off allowing the armor to always appear in perfect condition. When you wear this armor you posses several abilities. The armor comes with 3 charges. You can expend a charge as a reaction to reduce any damage by an amount of your proficiency bonus rolls of the d6. You can also expend a reaction when an ally within 5 feet of you is hit by the attack. You can step into their place and you take the attack. The roll does not change.

The armor, if it was a gift, grants you advantage on Charisma (persuasion) checks when interacting with Elves. If it was stolen or not offered as a service the armor subtly lets those around know and any charisma checks dealing with any elves are made at disadvantage.

So go check out our friends at Hero Forge ®. Originally funded by Kickstarter, Hero Forge ® is an in-browser character creator that allows you to design and customize heroes, villains, and monsters in full 3D. Their genre-spanning library of thousands of parts, body and attachment sliders, and custom color tools are meant to empower their users’ creativity. Using the power of high-end 3D printing, Hero Forge® will turn pixels on-screen into atoms in your hand so you can finally have a 30mm scale tabletop miniature that truly represents your beloved tabletop character.
